Ontario Eventing Championships

This weekend’s OHTA Eventing Championships taking place at historic Belvoir Farm in Delaware (London) Ontario will be getting an extra boost in the form of sponsorship from two London businesses. MASTERFEEDS INC., a leading developer of equine feed products and SWISS CHALET, Wellington Road South, London, have joined forces to help present this year’s Ontario Championships.

“We have been very involved with horse shows at Belvoir for the past two years” says Ms. Jackie Vandenbrink, Equine Business Manager at Masterfeeds, one of Canada’s largest Equine feed manufacturers. “We chose to substantially increase our involvement this year primarily because Belvoir is hosting the provincial Championships which will bring 150 of Ontario’s top horses and riders to London for the weekend. It’s a prime opportunity to showcase what Masterfeeds has to offer performance horses at this level, as well as help to give back to those who have helped make Masterfeeds a leader in the equine industry” Vandenbrink concluded.

Swiss Chalet, operated by Manny Samanica and the Famz Group Franchise at 3060 Wonderland Road South in London will be joining Masterfeeds in presenting the annual Competitor, Sponsor and Volunteer Dinner at the farm over the weekend. Samanica explains that “Sporting events in this province have been cut back dramatically over the years and here is a sport and an event that is growing not only at the uppermost levels but also at the grassroots levels all across the province. We are thrilled to be involved with the Ontario Eventing Championships at Belvoir this year and want to wish all the competitors the very best of luck.”

Eventing is often likened to an Equestrian Triathlon, encompassing three Olympic equestrian disciplines (Dressage, Cross-Country and Stadium Jumping) into one weekend’s worth of competition – all with the same horse & rider combination. Eventing is the only Olympic sport in which men and women compete on equal ground.

Competition is set to begin Saturday, September 3rd at 8:00am with the dressage phase, followed by Saturday afternoon’s Stadium Jumping and the highlight of the weekend – Sunday’s Cross-Country phases for all levels. The event is free all weekend with plenty of free parking available on site.
