Schuyler Riley down the bank at the Chrysler Classic. Photo by Peter Llewellyn. Split Seconds PhotographyHow about Schuyler Riley!  She did it again! She won the Chrysler Cup two years in a row, which has never been done by an American or a woman before!  It is also the first time anyone has won it back to back since Ian Millar won in 1986-89, back when it was held at The National.  In the fifteen years that the Chrysler Cup has been held at the North American, there have only been 9 clear rounds, and Schuyler has 2 of them! Congrats to Schuyler and her winning ways.  Let’s hope it all continues when she starts her European tour at the end of the month.

Stay tuned everyone.  We really are getting an equestrian TV station called Horse TV.  Airing date is scheduled for this fall and will be on the air 24/7.  Good luck guys, we are all rooting for you, as this is long overdue.

There were sightings of Richard Jeffery and Mason Phelps in Wisconsin recently.  Then we hear they were in Newport, Rhode Island.  What is going on?  Seems there are several groups looking to have Mason recreate the Jumping Derby, just like in the 70’s and 80’s!  Oh boy, could we ever live through those times again?

Richard Feldman photo by Kenneth KrausIf you were to take a look at the finance committee on the USEF web site, you would see that Alan Balch has a position with that group.  It certainly did raise some eyebrows and mention was made to the powers that be at USEF.  We now hear that Richard Feldman will be sitting on that committee and it should be a great addition to the Finance Committee’s efforts.

The Washington International Horse Show has a new public relations team.  Believe it or not, Press Link (Diana DeRosa) and Phelps Media Group (Mason Phelps and staff) are joining forces for this prestigious international horse show.  Wow, can you imagine – Mason and Diana – now this will be something to watch.

Have we seen the last of Noel Love Gross in Florida?  Her farm and home are on the market, and priced quite reasonably!  It is a beautiful place and somebody will certainly snatch it up quickly.  Noel, we are going to miss you.  Maybe you can make it down here for some of the shows, we hope!

Wayne Scott Lucas, Jonathan Sorisi and Scott Evans Photo By: PMG file photoSean Patrick Maloney, who is running for Attorney General of New Jersey, and his partner Randy Florke, invited a few of the horsey elite and fashion set to their benefit event at the private residence of DJ/music producer Tony Moran this week in NYC.  Singer Debora Cox, who flew in to entertain the crowd and support Maloney in his bid for office, was dressed by friend/celebrity stylist Wayne Scot Lukas in Bill Blass Couture.  WOW!  Seen in the front row of Cox's performance was a slew of the equestrian crowd, including the ever-stylish Kim Tudor, trainer/rider Scot Evans, Marcella Leone and Wayne's own riding instructor,  Jonathan Soresi of Soresi Show Stables at North Jersey Equestrian Center.   Soresi, who has taught such celebs as Stefanie Powers, Tom Cruise, Uma Thurman and Jerry Hall, was lucky enough to have Deborah Cox single him out and serenade him about "Them There Eyes" while all eyes watched...

It seems that the pressure is on for Soresi to make Lukas into a star outside of the fashion arena!  According to guests at the event, everyone is looking forward to Lukas' debut in a show jumping ring!!  Lukas has been searching for his first horse when not flying off to outfit Janet Jackson in Der Dau custom half chaps and boots...

Three cheers for Scott Stewart!  He has made his way into the jumper ring with a debut in the Fairfield Grand Prix and then on to Lake Placid for a couple more Grands Prix.  Scott even got ribbons in his first attempt and we hear he is going to continue to divide his time between the hunter ring and the jumpers.  What a great addition to the grand prix tour.  Good luck Scott

Is it true?  Molly Bliss has finally gotten Jim Wolfe to go down the aisle.  We hear there are wedding bells in their future.

Jamie Kraus Photo by: PMG file photoJamie Krauss is looking as ravishing as ever.  She recently celebrated her birthday and all her friends were there.

The Colorado Horse Park dedicated its first name-branded arena on Wednesday. The Coles Family Arena was made possible by Daryl and Michele Coles from Wellington, Florida.  While the Colorado Horse Park has received many sponsorships and donations over the years, the Coles Family Arena becomes the first branded structure on the grounds.  It sounds like they are taking a page out of Stadium Jumping’s book, as Wellington has many name-branded arenas.

Andrew Ellis has been causing quite a stir recently, especially at the North Carolina Hunter/Jumper A show, with his Nazi helmet and his rant about waiving show coats ... seems he and Ron Danta got into it at the in-gate.  Not to mention his run-ins with his ex and her new girlfriend.  Hildy does have spies all over the place.

The rumors flying around from Lake Placid about the behavior of one our biggest winning junior riders certainly did get exaggerated.  Well sorry guys, the story got a little out of control and it really isn’t quite as bad as it would appear.  Maybe the doormen and bartenders best check ID’s a little better and some of this nonsense might not happen.

Jennifer Ross, a DJ in South Florida, was attempting to jump with one of her new horses and went down hard...hopefully nothing serious, but God were they talking it up on the radio. Apparently, the horse overjumped the obstacle and Ross went somersaulting off. It really amounted to nothing, but the media sure did make some big noise about it.

It is so sad that we share with you the passing of John Perry.  John was one of the best horse show employees you could work with.  He was always pleasant with a smile on his face and no task was too big.  We extend our sympathies to his wife, Betsy Hoppel, family, and friends. David Boley is making his return to the Hamilton, Massachusetts, area.  The Myopia Hunt Club has just announced his appointment.  They are calling him the resident summer professional.  Haven’t we been down this road before?

I guess our equestrians won’t be making the trip to Beijing with all the other Olympic athletes for the next Games.  Seems they will be sequestered in Hong Kong, where the equestrian venues will be hosted.  Makes it a bit hard to get caught up in the Olympic spirit!

Sale Johnson, the ex-wife of Jets owner Woody Johnson, is reinventing herself as a rock-band manager. Johnson tells us she fell in love with the band Elvis White while vacationing alone at Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos last Thanksgiving. "They were playing at a bar," the besotted socialite said, "and they were so wonderful." Johnson brought the band to New York and hooked them up with power lawyer Paul Schindler — the ex-partner of Allen Grubman — who landed them a contract with Universal Music.

Alan Korotkin’s Castlewood Farm had an employee problem recently.  The Palm Beach Post reports that the groom in question turned loose a stallion and five mares causing some serious harm to some of the horses.  Sorry to hear about this unfortunate situation but all is on the mend.

There have also been splits, pregnancies and new couplings all over the place around the South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee area.  But, nobody wants to share the particulars.  If you guys in that part of the world want to get some coverage, please send along your information to Frostbitefamily@aol.com.  We are not trying to overlook anyone, so please help us out here.
