Christilot Boylen Rides Another Solid Performance at CDI 3* Fritzens, Austria

Canada’s Christilot Boylen continues to score solid performances in Europe, this time at the CDI 3* held June 8-10, 2005 in Fritzens, Austria.

In the Prix St. Georges, which boasted a class size of 21 competitors, Boylen rode to a score of 68.35% and a fifth place finish aboard the 10-year-old Hanoverian Don Valentino, owned by Alec Murray and Compositor Investments Inc. of Canada. The Intermediaire I class showed a slight drop in the scores, but Don Valentino finished in the top ten with 66.70%.

In the large tour ring, Boylen competed her two current Grand Prix mounts Gachino (Gardez x Chinatown) and Lucky Lemon (Lemon Park x Tannenberg). In the Grand Prix qualifier for the Kur, Boylen placed an impressive fourth place with Lucky Lemon on a score of 68.54%. Lucky Lemon, a 14-year-old Hannoverian mare owned by Dora Boyle-Pabst , went on to compete in the Grand Prix Kur where she was awarded a score of 69.53% from the international judging panel. The class was won by Austria’s Victoria Max Theurer and Falcao with 74.14%.

In the Grand Prix qualifier for the Speciale, Boylen rode Gachino to earn another strong score of 68.79 % which was rewarded with eighth place honours in the large field of 27 entries. The pair continued to be strong in the Grand Prix Speciale, where Boylen’s ride on Gachino, an 11-year-old black Baden Württenberg gelding owned by Mrs. Hermosilla, was given 69.16 % and moved the pair up to sixth place. This time it was Switzerland’s Sylvia Ikle and Salieri CH who rode away with top honours and a score of 74.48 % with Germany’s Isabell Werth coming second on Warum Nicht FRH with 71.68 %.

Boylen describes the elegant Gachino as “a very talented and intelligent horse” who won the German South Young Horse Championship. Gachino was formerly owned and ridden by German Olympic Gold Medalist Ulla Salzgeber before being bought by Mrs. Hermosilla of Madrid, Spain. Boylen has been working with Gachino for a little over a year, and the pair have struck a very successful partnership in the competition ring.

The international judging panel at CDI* Fritzens included Katrina Wust (GER), Beatrice Burchler-Keller (SUI), Heinz Lemmermann (GER), Mariette Withages (BEL), Ghislain Fouarge (NED), Dr. Wojciech Markowski (POL), Maribel Alonso de Quinzanos (MEX), Uwe Mechlem (GER), Elisabeth Koffmahn (AUT) and Victoire Mandl (AUT).
