Tom Dvorak Dominates at CDI Blainville Dressage International

The popular CDI***-W Blainville Dressage International got underway on Wednesday, June 29, with Canadian Olympian Tom Dvorak proving to be his own best competition in the day’s featured class, the Prix St. Georges.

Riding Beaumarchais, a 10-year-old Hannoverian gelding owned by Susan Holden, Dvorak of Hillsburgh, ON, earned a score of 69.75% from the five-member panel of international judges. That score moved him ahead of his earlier performance with Westside Lady that had earned 68.30%. Westside Lady is a beautiful nine-year-old black Hannoverian mare that, like her stable mate, was originally imported to Canada from Germany by W. Charlot Farms of Stratford, ON. Dvorak and Westside Lady will be looking to defend their title in Blainville’s famed Casino de Montreal Freestyle Extravaganza scheduled for Saturday evening.

Diane Creech of Caistor Centre, ON, placed third riding Weltkoenigin, a chestnut Hannoverian mare, after earning a score of 66.00%. Amateur competitor Christine Fejer of Toronto, ON, took fourth place riding Royal Flash, a 12-year-old Hannoverian stallion, with a score of 65.95% while Andrea Bresee of Brockville, ON, rounded out the top five after earning a score of 65.45% riding the Swedish Warmblood mare, Raffles.

Sanctioned by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), the CDI***-W Blainville Dressage International runs from June 29 to July 2 at Blainville Equestrian Park located in the heart of Blainville, QC. Thursday will feature the Grand Prix, the same level of competition the athletes face at the Olympic Games. The four-day Blainville Dressage International culminates with Saturday night’s Casino de Montreal Freestyle Extravaganza. Over 200 horses are competing at this year’s international event, which offers $20,000 in prize money and also serves as Canada’s longest running World Cup Qualifier.

Located just north of Montreal, Blainville Equestrian Park features a variety of attractions that ensure all family members enjoy their visit.
