NEWSFLASH!

Athens, 1:30pm EEST- - - Cindy Ishoy and Proton were the top Canadian finishers in the Individual Grand Prix Dressage Qualifier.  They earned a score of 66.583, putting them in to 31st place overall.  Belinda Trussell and Royan II received a score of 66.000, one point behind what she had hoped for, but nevertheless said she was not disappointed.  The Canadian Team finished in 9th place, up one spot from their world ranking.  The Team Gold was awarded to Germany while Spain won its first Olympic medal ever by taking the Silver.  Bronze went to the United States. With an amazing performance and a score to match, 78.208, Ulla Salzgeber and Rusty appear to be on track for an Individual Gold.  Dressage competition continues Monday with the Grand Prix Special for the top 25 individuals.  More later . . .

Silver: Spain – 72.917%
Bronze: United States – 71.500%
Ninth: Canada – 66.222%
