Canadian Success at Dressage at Devon

Tom Dvorak started the show off on the right foot by winning the Prix St. Georges "A" division on Thursday with Susan Platz's Westside Lady, being awarded a score of 64.917%. Dvorak also rode Beaumarchais in the Prix St. George "B" division to a score of 63.917% which gave them 3rd place. Jon Costin and Wholio were 5th with 62.500%.
In the large tour classes, Cindy Ishoy and Proton put in a solid performance and were awarded 66.208% by the judges to slot them into the 2nd position. Julia Vysniauskas & Syntax were 6th (63.542%), Gillian Sutherland & Justin Tyme came 7th (61.833%), Jacqueline Brooks & Finnegan rode to 11th (59.500%) and Tom Dvorak & Kadans were 16th (52.458%). The class was won by Georges Williams and Rocher with a commanding score of 69.833%. Williams has been training with Germany's Klaus Balkenhol and gained valuable experience on the European show circuit over the past year.
In the Grand Prix Freestyle, Williams and Rocher dazzled the crowd and the judges as they rode their way to an impressive 75.100% and first place honours. The elegant mare by Rolls Royce showed her trademark floppy ears through the performance as she displayed breathtaking extensions and solid piaffe. Ishoy and Proton were runner-up again with a score of 70.175%. Proton also showed his talent for piaffe and passage and handled the dynamic atmosphere well despite his young age (9). This pair will definitely be one to watch during next year's Canadian Team Olympic trials.
