Monica Theodorescu Top International Horse Renaissance Fleur Breaks Leg
Only 1 week after receiving her personal best score (79.44%) in the Grand Prix at Neumunster CDI, Germany's Monica Theodorescu's mare Renaissance Fleur broke her leg in a freak accident.
The 11-year-old grey Trakhener mare managed to escape from her stall and slipped outside on the frozen ground, breaking her leg. Renaissance Fleur was immediately taken to a clinic in Telgte, Germany and was operated on by Doctor Boening, the same doctor who operated on Gestion Bonfire in 1996.
"This is the worst thing that can happen for a rider." said an upset Theodorescu. "The doctors can’t say anything about the chances of Renaissance Fleur, only time will tell."
Renaissance Fleur looked to be Theodorescu's next international star with wins at the World Cup Qualifiers in Milan, Maastricht as well as the CDI in Neumunster, Germany.
