Anky van Grunsven Breaks Leg During Training

Dutch dressage rider Anky van Grunsven recently broke her leg after she suffered a fall during a training session with her horse Gestion Joker.

van Grunsven was taken to the hospital immediately where doctors operated on a complicated upper leg bone fracture. The subsequent recovery could mean the top dressage rider is out of action for several months.

Gestion Joker, a 17.2hh Hannoverian gelding who van Grunsven describes as "very hot", was himself sidelined previously due to a sustained leg injury and only recently has been brought back into work.
