USET Approves Modifications to Show Jumping Computer List

Changes Made In Determining Value of European Classes

As requested by U.S. show jumping riders, the United States Equestrian Team (USET) has approved modifications to its weekly Show Jumping Computer List that will include a new method for determining the value of Grand Prix classes held in Europe.

Previously, all European classes had a pre-assigned value based on the FEI computer list; class value was not affected by the caliber of competitors in the class. With the modifications, the value of all classes, regardless of location, will be based on the current ranking of horse-and-rider combinations competing in the class, with only the top 50 finishers in the class to count.

The USET conducted tests of the new system throughout 2002. The test lists were reviewed by the USET Active Riders, Owners and Show Jumping Committees, and a recommendation was made to the USET Executive Committee to implement the new system.

The USET Show Jumping Computer Ranking List is used to select teams and or/individuals to represent the U.S. at CSIO and CSI competitions where more riders indicate a desire to compete than the organizer can accommodate and for which there are no separate selection procedures, as is the case with World Championships, Olympic and Pan Am Games and select other events.

The complete show jumping selection procedure is posted on the USET website at www.uset.org. For more information, please contact Sally Ike, USET Director of Show Jumping Activities, at (908) 234-1251 or sike@uset.org.
