Reining Canada Announces 2003 Short List

Reining Canada is pleased to announce its National Team Short List for 2003. The riders/horses were selected based on their 2002 results at Canada Cup Finals held Aug. 8-11, 2002, at the Blainville Equestrian Park, Blainville, PQ.

Recently accepted as the first western discipline by the FEI, reining is quickly gaining popularity throughout the world. A judged event designed to show the athletic ability of a ranch type horse in the confines of a show arena, competitors are required to run one of ten approved patterns. Each pattern includes small, slow circles, large fast circles, flying lead changes, roll-backs, 360-degree spins done in place, and exciting sliding stops that are the hallmark of the reining horse.
