Central American and Caribbean Games
The Central American and Caribbean Games were organised in El Salvador
from. 30 November to 6 December in El Salvador, and included
competitions in the three equestrian Olympic disciplines as well as a 80
km Endurance ride.
Eventing
A successful one star Eventing championship was organised in a
completely new installation which was developed for equestrian sports in
a wonderful site surrounded by mountains. Twenty five combinations from
five nations (El Salvador, Venezuela, Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia)
participated in the competitions. Mexico earned the team Gold medal
ahead of Guatemala and El Salvador. Jaime Valzquez Suar on Guason (MEX)
won the individual gold medal, followed by his country fellows Erik
Arambula Viveros/Fusilero and Aurelio Quinzanos Su/J:B: Jumbles.
Jumping
Thirty-five riders from 12 countries participated in the Jumping event.
Colombia won the team gold, followed by Mexico and Guatemala. Puerto
Rican rider Mark Watring on Sapphire earned the individual gold ahead of
Enrique Gonzalez/Blue Shot Guarilo (MEX) and Carlos Hernando
Ramijez/Amazonas (COL).
Dressage
The Young Rider Individual test was used in the Individual competition.
Yvonne Losos de Muņiz won the individual gold after a remarkable score
of 70.95%, beating out Mexican riders Joachim Orth / Guido and
Bernadette Pujals/Vincent. Mexico earned the Team gold medal with a
total of 3939 points, ahead of Colombia and Dominican Republic.
Endurance
After 4.54.01 and an average speed of 16,32 km/h, Oscar Delgado/Bombas
(CRC) was the winning combination of the Endurance ride, on little
second ahead of team mate Alfredo Peralta/Faraon. 20 minutes later
Federico Herbruger/Diamante (GUA) arrived to catch the bronze.
