Karen Pavicic - Athlete of the Month for February

Karen Pavicic of Surrey, BC, has been named the Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for February.

Pavicic has proudly represented Canada at prominent international events for over two decades.  The highlight of her career to date is being a member of the silver medal winning team at the 2007 Pan American Games held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where she rode Lionheart.  Pavicic aims to expand her impressive record of success on the world stage and her future goals are to represent Canada at the World Equestrian Games and the Olympic Games.

Pavicic is being recognized for her outstanding Grand Prix results achieved in February at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) in Wellington, Florida.

Riding her current horse, Don Daiquiri, a 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding, co-owned with Jayne Essig, Pavicic posted impressive results including scores of 68.70% in the Grand Prix and 71.40% in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the CDI4* Wellington, February 6th - 7th, and scores of 69.44% in the Grand Prix and 70.00% in the Grand Prix Special at the CDI3* Wellington, February 21st - 23rd.

Together Pavicic and Don Daiquiri have competed in 14 competitions in California and Florida and have finished in the top five in nine of those events.

The Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month is a recognition program that celebrates the achievements of Canadian dressage riders who represent Canada in international competition in the FEI Pony, Children, Junior, Young Rider, Advanced, Grand Prix and Young Horse classes.
