Cliff-hanger in prospect for Rolex Jumping World Cup Final Day
Tomorrow’s last leg of the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Jumping Final 2012/2013 promises classic sport and a bright new champion at the end of a week of cutting-edge competition. A total of 23 horse-and-rider combinations will battle it out over two more tough rounds, the numbers reduced following the withdrawal today of Germany’s Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and Bella Donna, who were lying 17th on the leaderboard, French rider Penelope Leprevost and Nayana who were in 21st spot and America’s Kent Farrington and Uceko who were 23rd.

Germany’s Helen Langehanenberg threw down the gauntlet when securing a convincing victory with Damon Hill NRW in the preliminary Grand Prix at the Reem Acra FEI World Cup™ Dressage 2012/2013 Final in Gothenburg, Sweden today. The 30-year-old rider and her 13-year-old stallion have been challenging the supremacy of back-to-back double-champions Adelinde Cornelissen (NED) and her great gelding, Jerich Parzival, for some time now, and following today’s result have piled on the pressure ahead of Saturday’s Freestyle decider.

As the anticipation and excitement continued to mount in Gothenburg, Sweden tonight, Olympic champion Steve Guerdat from Switzerland was drawn first to go in tomorrow’s (25 April) opening competition of the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Jumping Final 2012/2013. And 2011 Rolex champion and current World No. 1, Christian Ahlmann from Germany, was at the other end of the spectrum when awarded the coveted last-to-go slot in the field of 39 starters.
