A little about Peter Gisborn;
“Honesty. Integrity. Results. Since PJG Enterprises inception in 1999, Peter Gisborn has been producing top results with his students and horses with his honest, positive approach to training.”
Peter Gisborn has been involved with horses his entire life and is a 4th generation horseman. His involvement began at his family’s own Shady Hill Farm; a successful riding school and show stable in Caledonia, ON. In addition to growing up with and learning from his father Jack Gisborn, who competed internationally in show jumping for Canada, Peter is fortunate enough to have trained under other talented professionals such as Mac
Cone, Kim Kirton, and Susan Schoellkopf of SBS Farms one of the U.S.’s top hunter and equitation stables. During his junior career Peter saw much success in the hunter, jumper and equitation rings including success in the very competitive Maclay medals and qualifying for the national finals. Unfortunately Peter was unable to compete at the finals after breaking his leg playing football.
Peter graduated from Wilfred Laurier University in 1994 with a B.A. in Kinesiology. While at university he pursued his other love, football. Peter was a member of Laurier’s 1991 Vanier Cup winning football team. As well being named to the OUA all-star team for two consecutive years and being All-Canadian in his final year at Laurier. After a successful university football career Peter went on to play in the CFL for the Hamilton Ticats.
Being a horseman at heart Peter returned to horses and started up PJG Enterprises in 1999 where he strives to produce quality horses in a relaxed family friendly atmosphere with his wife Brittany and sons Alexander and Benjamin. Peter has coached many riders to success on Ontario’s ‘A’ circuit including the Royal Winter Fair and OHJA year-end awards. He has piloted many horses to wins in the jumper development series and continues to do so. Peter is also an active Grand Prix competitor. Being an active member of the horse community not only in the saddle but also out of it, he has served as a member on the OEF board, is a sponsor of the Royal Horse Show and has sat on the OHJA Board
